Dear Mr Talbot
Thank you very much for your letter. I was very glad to see your hand writing again – There is no hurry about your paper. Whenever y find time, will do for me – either for the May or the June Meeting – When I spoke of George Smith, I did not speak from any private information that I have had: only from general rumour, or rather from the information of a friend of mine, who works for the Daily Telegraph – Whenever I hear any thing definite, I will take pity upon your absence in the Country – let you know – We have a very clever fellow here (in Oxford) Sayce – do you know him? I am told that he has shewn some proficiency in matters Assyrian –
Ever sincerely yours
W. S. W. Vaux
