Bath. January 30 – 1847
Dear Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th which reached me this morning –
I shall transmit a copy of it, as you request, to Mr H. G. Awdry – I beg to assure you that I have fallen into no error with respect to the nature of what passed between Mr Little & myself on the subject of your occupation Bridges – I had no arrangements to propose – and moreover have neither taste nor leisure for ‘mere friendly conversations’ on such subjects –
However I trust and believe that it will now be unnecessary for the Cos interests to show you that you have been misinformed on this point – most desirous as the Directors are that your agreement should be fulfilled not merely in good faith but amicably –
We do not intend to build a bridge in the Burgess field –
I am
Your obed St
