Dear Mr Talbot
I was not home when you called to day. – but if I had been able to see you, I must have forced myself to decline the visit, for the reason I stated before – that circumstances have happened that make me judge it indispensably necessary to refuse private communication with any of the persons whose names & interests Mr William Bligh <1> has attempted to introduce in his letter of attack to me in the name of the Bligh family
If there is any thing you wish to know from me, I shall be most happy to second your terms whatever they may be according to my Ideas of right with the kindest feelings of readiness to oblige. but I have said, I had reasons for my determination & from that I cannot depart
I remain with great regard very truly Yrs
