DL Octr 11/60
My dear Talbot
Our business with the Parlt Commissn is so pressing (their term of office having nearly expired & our Statutes requiring still much to complete them) that I see no possibility of my being able to get into Yorkshire
It is however very likely that I shall be called to Town at the time you mention to confer with the Commy or if not be engaged daily in College Meetings which occupy the greater part of the day/. Under these circumstances I believe it will be better to hope for a clearer time to renew auld lang syne – I regret this very much and only acquiesce in the measure on the principle of your having given a hostage for speedy reappearance in these parts. I sadly fear you would get an irremediably bad impression of the Dullness of D L in my wife’s certain & my own probable absence
Yours sincerely
T Worsley
I shall [illegible] to see as much of you as possible
