Munich

25 April 1831

Sir

It was with the greatest pleasure that I received your news that Mr Strangeways kindly passed on to me. I am truly sorry that your friend’s stay in Munic was too short to be able to show him all our botanical riches, I had to <illegible deletion> resign myself to taking him to our botanical garden.

I am delighted to know that you are in good health and that you are continuing to cultivate our pleasant science. Doctor <Obwescer?>, one of my friends and an old student of mine, whom I have the honour of introducing to you by this letter, will tell you about what I have been doing. The buds have provided me with many interesting and new observations. The second journal of my work on this subject will appear very shortly.

You were wanting, Sir, to have some seeds from our alps, some Orchid bulbs and roots. I will not hesitate to provide you with them, as soon as I have the opportunity of sending them to you by a sure means which won’t be too late in presenting itself.

It is with great pride, Sir <illegible deletion>, that I name myself
Your very humble servant

Prof. J G Zuccarini
