My dear Henry
It is a very long time since I have received any letter from you; but I wrote you a very long one 3 <1> weeks ago; I hope you will answer it soon, & tell me if you enjoy Florence as much as we did, in this truly Italian weather. I advise you to make another excursion to Pratolino on some very hot day, (as once is not enough,) to enjoy the coolness of the woods & water; & observe the pomgranate [sic] hedges on the road from Florence; & go & see the magnificent Oleanders at [sic] luxuriant jessamine at the villa Strozzi <2> –
Addio, caro Enrico mio; je t’embrasse de cœur – <3>
Caroline –
