Translation:

I am most sorry, Sir, that we will be denied the privilege of seeing you for dinner and that your health be the cause of this; if you should feel better in the evening we are having a few people over for tea and we would be delighted to count you amongst them. tomorrow if you are well I will be in town for part of the morning and my herbarium is always open from 11 o’clock until 4 o’clock.

Your pimpinella does indeed differ somewhat in it’s foliage from the Carum rigidulum and could well be a true pimpinella going by its leaves, although none of this can be ascertained without first seeing fruits. I believe it is new.

Please accept our greatest compliments,
de Candolle
