Horticultural Society’s Garden
Augt 31st 1831
Sir
I had a note from Mr Lindley <1> this morning requesting that I would send back your Orchis plants but I am sorry to inform you that a stupid Irishman who was in the Houses at the time and observed them without leaf or stem carried them away for dead plants without asking any questions about them for which conduct he will be turned away from the Garden
I Am Sir your Ob Humble Servant
Donald Munro

1. Prof John Lindley (1799–1865), botanist.
