My dear Mr Talbot

When we parted from you at Swanwick we were in hopes that about the Middle of this month supposing it had suited you to receive us, we should have been able to accomplish our agreable scheme of going to Lacock, & I think it was agreed that we were to have some farther communication as the time drew near. I am very sorry to say we now find this to be impracticable, & we are reluctantly obliged to give up the pleasure of visiting you this Autumn. We will still not forego the hope of accomplishing this at some future period, altho we have hitherto been so unlucky – The reasons which prevent us now are our friends coming to us so much later than we expected, & some circumstances connected with Ht Ward’s <2> stay with us. I desired Louisa & Grace <3> who spent last week at Moreton <4> to ask where I was to direct to you, & I hear from them that you are at Markeaton <5> – Give our love to Harriot <6> & tell her we are looking forward with pleasure to a visit from her & Mr Mundy <7> after Christmas – Will you also tell her that they thought Mr Frampton & Louisa <8> looking very well & Lady Ht <9> in high force – Our County election is an absorbing interest amongst us all just at present; Mr Seymer is for Mr Ponsonby, <10> Mary <11> very eager for Ld Ashley <12> – The newspapers tell you how they are going on so I will say no more about it –

Believe me dear Mr Talbot sincerely yrs
Harriet Ker Seymer
