Feldhausen <1>
April 2/36

My dear Sir

The annexed is a Pod of Seeds of the Strelitzia Alba a magnificent flower from the Knysna growing 20 or 30 feet high and said to be a great rarity if ever before imported into Europe.– Sow in good Peat Sand as usual with Cape Seeds. – I intended to have sent you some bulbs having just got a lot of fine Brunswickia but the ships have come so late that it is now past the season for shipping them.

Yours in haste
JFW Herschel

W H F Talbot Esq

Notes:

1. Feldhausen was Herschel’s house and observatory at Wynberg (Cape Town). This address and the date are written in the hand of Herschel’s wife, Margaret (Maggie) née Stewart.
