5 Langham Place
22nd July 41
Dear Sir
On my return to Town I am favored with your letter of the 18th inst <1> and in answer beg leave to say that one of the points which you discuss could not be wholly acquiesced in by the Institution <2> such as determining in writing the extent to which the process would be carried out as it would entirely depend on the encouragement which the public would give to it, I conceive that this should be determined by the Institution who wd of course have the same interest with yourself
I concur in your view as regards references & not selling beneath a fixed price also as to disallowing any agents except in the Institution from making money of the patent in any way Whereas you may feel assured that there is not a difference in opinion on the main point, I shd consider that your agent had better sketch out the draft of an agreement the details of which may be discussed & settled afterwards & there can be no doubt in my mind that the most effective & profitable result would be gained by liberal views on the details of any agreement on arrangement
I have the honor to be Dear Sir Yours most faithfully
William M Nurse
