Oxford,
Wedny 6 Sept – 1843.
My Dear Mother
When you left me at Steventon I procured a conveyance, but got out at Abingdon and walked from thence to Oxford in the cool of the evening – part of the way lies thro’ a pretty forest – the distance is seven miles. The weather has been exceedingly fine both Monday, Tuesday & today, and I have made about twenty views each day, some of which are very pretty – but the number of picturesque points of view seems almost inexhaustible, and I think tomorrow evening I shall return to Town where I hope to find letters from you & Constance.
Perhaps I may be able to convoy [sic] Horatia <1> on Saturday to Lacock
Your affte
Henry
