Astronomical queries, <1> with reference to statements in the Cuneiform inscriptions in the British Museum.

1. Was there a great solar eclipse visible at Niniveh the 27 June 661 B.C. in the afternoon?

2. Was the same visible at Susa in the land of Elam, or more generally speaking was it visible to the East and South East of Babylon?

Notes:

1. WHFT sent this list to George Smith who in turn forwarded it to George Biddell Airy: ‘Department of Oriental Antiquities / March 21st 72 / My dear Sir / Mr Fox Talbot has sent me the following queries regarding an inscription which he thinks mentions an eclipse I will write to him and state that I have forwarded the matter to you / If you would kindly assist him please direct to / H.
