4 Fitzroy Sq. <1>
Feby 15
Dear Sir
Your favor <2> of Saturday I have received this morning.
Should the American Patent office refuse your Patent <3> you will have of course the right of appeal as provided by the Act of July 4 1836. That right moreover is vested in yourself as the party making application, and I do not think you will require any authority from us <4>
Our rights in the premises only commence when the patent is obtained.
I hope Mr Carpmael <5> and yourself may be right with regard to the duration of the patent. But it seems to me to be otherwise, and my counsel in New York was of the same opinion with myself.
I remain, dear Sir Yours Respy
E. Anthony
H. F. Talbot Esq
