Wednesday.
Lacock Abbey, Chippenham.
My dear Henry
Charles is very desirous that I should forward some Electioneering-looking letters Which came for you today – but from their shape I judge them to be simply cards of invitation to be early at the Poll at Chippenham &c &c Such as one Mr Gale showed me this morning – This address of the letter enclosed being in Mr Gaisford’s hand-writing I send, as it may possibly be of consequence.
Thanks for your’s of this morning – Our Guests left us today – The rain yesterday was serious – and prevented our attempting to go up to the Merewether’s – as yo we judged it would be simply impossible to play croquet.
Your Affectionate
Constance.
Mr Menteath did not forget the Etymologies.
