Monsieur

J’espère me dédommager prochainement.

Translation:

Sir

I am delighted to hear that you are in Paris. I intended to assure you of this in person; but I was prevented from doing so yesterday by Mr Lacroix’s funeral; Today, an indisposition has forced me to stay in my room. I hope to make up for it soon.

In the meantime, please accept my sincere regards and my deepest respect.

F. Arago
