I beg to inform you that my researches in Photy, wch have bn prosecuted wth zeal during ye past summer, have resulted in ye – a discovery wch appears to me to open an entirely new field of speculatn, & of practical utility. I hope soon (i.e. before Xmas) to be to have sufficiently mastered ye intricacies of the subject to be able to exhibit tolerably perfect specimens, and I beg to enquire whether you would wish the first account of the matter to appear in the Athnm? <1> As in that case I would take care to reserve it for you, & in y e mean meantime beg to submit myself When convent if ye will favor me wth a line in reply I shall be obliged –
