I was from home when your letter of the 28th Ult arrived which will account for my not replying to it immediately. I certainly had mistaken the meaning of your former letter as to the price of the Land, but if you look at the wording of Mr Easton ’s Award I think you will see that it is impossible that it can bear the construction which you suppose –
We have not yet completed our Arrangements with Mr Burgess, and I regret to say I cannot therefore give any definitive Answer to your proposition as to the Bridge
