Worthen Salop
Sept 1. 1845

My dear Sir

By this Post I am communicating your wishes to Mr Ward <1>, but I fear that the limitation of the Powers of the Act being limited to a certain Space, & the double Curve, will make it difficult to comply with them; besides that the arrangements to be made for crossing roads &c seem to be data required previously to laying out the Line –

At all events I cd not at a distance from home venture to hope that any farther attempts on my part to mediate wd lead to the satisfaction of both parties – or to be certain that I might not over-step my Authority. With great regret therefore at the results of this luckless Error of the Ordnance Map on the Faith of which Mr Brunel <2> acted,

I remain Yrs very faithfully
J W Awdry

Notes:

1. Richard James Ward, of Bath.

2. Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806–1859), civil engineer.
