Chippenham <1>

26 Dec. 1857

Dear Sir,

I will enquire about the Draining pipes referred to in the Bills you have sent, I ordered some for “New-Farm” but am not certain whether these are the ones I ordered – I have been expecting to receive your directions about a further remittance as you promised to let me know to what Bank I should remit – I should have written but did not know your Address – I saw Barnes last Week and enquired further about his charge for conveying your Ore by the Wilts & Berks Canal – He told me that the Sum stated in his letter (which I handed to you) would include every charge for Canal dues &c

I hope Mrs Talbot <2> and all your family are quite well – With all the good wishes of the Season to them and yourself

I remain Your obliged Servt

West Awdry.

H F. Talbot Esq
