Dear Sir,

I shall be happy to assist you in your search for the Document wch the Earl Talbot <2> requires at your convenience. I am preparing the Exchange Deed referred to in your former letter <3> – I have obtained an Estimate from Charles Banks <4> for making a Drain for carrying off the Water which falls on the walk side of the Chancel – wch I annex –

Estimate for Work to be done at the Chancel at Lacock Church – Top drain – 90 feet long – 10 feet 8 in: wide – the same as Chancel front – To make good the Ground and clean off green up to the base inside the Church – £3·5·0 –

2. Henry John Chetwynd Talbot, 18th Earl Shrewsbury, 5th Baron Talbot (1803–1868) was at this time contesting his succession to the title.
