Dear Sir,

The Grubbing of Caroline Coppice has been completed some time – and the land brought into Cultivation – and I have got Mrs Fry to let the Cottagers who held the triangular piece of ground against the Melksham Road have an Equal section elsewhere, so as to throw the former piece into her field as you proposed – which is a great improvement. I am told that the Devizes Iron Ore & Smelting Company is “hitched up” by some legal proceedings in connection with the Ruabon Coal Mines – I expect to meet one of the Directors shortly on business where I will endeavor to ascertain what is Doing.

I will have your Yearly Accounts of the Estates completed and ready for you on your return.

I am Dear Sir Yours obliged
West Awdry

I wish to have your instructions about cutting some Timber to pay for the restoration of the two Cottages at Lacock which fell into hand last year. now completed. H. F. Talbot Esq
