Chippenham
10 Nov. 1862
Dear Sir,
I have remitted the further Sum of £500 to Coutts & Co <1> for your credit Mr Blomfield <2> has applied to me for your Annl School Subscription, and also mentions that there is a deficiency of £13·17·8½ principally on acct of the Infant School towards which he has received £11· in sums of £2 each from Messrs Gladstone Caldwell, Merewether, Sir J. Awdry, Hy Awdry <3>. & £1·from Mr Paley <4>. The prevalence of Measles amongst the children seems to have contributed to this deficiency by keeping back their pence With regard to the piece of Land on Nash Hill, if you will write to Lord Shelburne <5> and state your wish to become the purchaser of the strip in question, I will apply to Mr Clarkson who I presume is acting for him and endeavor to get it reserved out of his conveyance, in the first instance, rather than apply to other parties hereafter
I remain dear Sir yours obliged
West Awdry.
