Monkton,
Chippenham.
30 April 1864
Dear Sir,
I have remitted £400 to your account with the Bank of Scotland at Edinburgh through Coutts & Co <1> and will next Week remit the £2,000 in the same way. I have had the Glebe Land as well as your own valued by a very competent Surveyor – yours is very superior in quality as well as locality, wch accounts for the difference in quantity – in the exchange.
Mr Nicholl <2> intends to sell the present Vicarage House & Garden towards the cost of erecting his new House – I hope you will be at home in time to decide whether you will become a purchaser; at all events I will take care to let you know before any Sale takes place.
I remain Dear Sir Yours obliged
West Awdry.
