Dear Sir,

I was obliged to defer your Audit for a few days but I held it last week and shall be happy to remit to you £750 in any way you will direct – I am sorry to hear that one of your daughters is not well – but hope she will soon be well enough to accompany you on your projected tour on the Continent. I think every thing looks peaceful now and I suppose Mr Walpole thinks so too or he would scarcely give up the Pub to Mr Beales for his demonstration tonight! Your Son <1> has just walked in and seems to enjoy this delightful change of weather –

I remain Yours obliged
West Awdry

I enclose a receipt for half a Years Interest of the £4000 –

[envelope:]
H. F. Talbot Esqr
13 Gt. Stuart Street
Edinburgh-

Notes:

1. Charles Henry Talbot (1842–1916), antiquary & WHFT’s only son.
