Chippenham <1>
16 Jany 1840
Dear Sir,
My Aunt Mrs Arnold has readily consented to add her name to those I mentioned this Morning as Sureties for the faithful execution of My Office, and I have written to Town for the form of the necessary Security. I find on Enquiry that the County Clerks give Security to the Sheriff, though the risk is I believe very trifling – Mr Tanner at present acts for North Wilts & Mr Whitmarsh for the Southern Division of the County.
I remain Dear Sir
Your Obliged Servt
West Awdry.
