Dear Sir,
The Dean & Chapter of Christ Church Oxford have given notice that they shall require further Evidence in support of your claim to Exemption from Tithes of Certain parts of Your Farms at Ash Hill and Nethermore <1> – together about 142 a perhaps you will search amongst your old Title Deeds for any Grant from the Crown of the Tithes of any part of your Estates in the Parish of Chippenham <2> – I can prove nonpayment of any Tithes by your Tenants for a great Number of years, but as the Tithes of this Parish have always been in the hands of their Lessees, I am not sure that the Lessors (the Dean & Chapter) would be bound by that Evidence alone
The Meeting stands adjourned till the 25th Augt
I am Dear Sir
Your Obliged & Obed St
