Chippenham <1>
24 Oct. 1840

Dear Sir,

I have arranged with Messrs Sartain as to the Land at the Abbey by returning them half the Sum they paid, deducting 2/6 for the Locks wch their Man destroyed. They expressed clear regret at the conduct of their Servant whom they have discharged in consequence they assured me that he had directions to apply to your Servant for the Key.

I have remitted Messrs Stillwell <2> for Lady Elizth Feilding <3> 300 & to Messrs Hughes & Co <4> 300 on your own Account
