Dear Sir,
As I understand from my Son <2>, that a Deputation must be regist’red by the Clerk of the Peace, in order to make it available against Poachers &c – I send it herewith for your signature – & if you will be good enough to return it by the Bearer – it shall be forwarded to Mr Swayne <3> –
One Witness will be sufficient –
on the other side I send you a Copy of the Agreement wch Thos Hayward <4> signed, with me yesterday, for renting the Deputation – I thought best, that the Father should be the Person responsible to you on this occasion–

Wm Henry Awdry <6> (as Agent for Wm Henry Fox Talbot Esq) agrees to let, and Thos Hayward of Wick Farm <7> agrees to take for his Son James Hayward, the Deputation or right of shooting and fishing over the Manor of Lacock in the County of Wilts – for One Year from this time – and the said Thos Hayward agrees to pay the said Wm H. Fox Talbot for the same, the Sum of Twenty Pounds –
