Lacock
Monday Evg

Dear Sir/

I have been talking with Thos Moore,<1> on the subject of the Charge for the Establishment to be paid by Lacock, under the Poor Law Act – for last year – & I understand that it has been calculated upon an Average of three years ending at Lady day 1835–<2> & the year 1832 having been a particularly heavy one at Lacock on Account of the Emigration Expences it has increased the proportion to be paid this year – the Churchwardens & Overseers, therefore, think it is a Case wch ought to be taken into Consideration & they are about to petition the Board upon the subject –

I find that we were correct in supposing the general expenditure in this Parish, to be reduced full half, in comparison with former years. –

Yr Obliged Sert
W. H. Awdry

W H F Talbot Esq
