Chippenham <1>

26th Janry 1828

Dear Sir –

Previous to the Canal Company entering your Gravel Pit, I made particular Enquiries & was sorry to find that the Act of Parliamt gave them authority to go within a Mile of the towing Path – They will however have to account to you for all Damage done to the Soil, by an Estimate. –

I will take care to pay the Bills at the time you mention, previously ascertaining what is the custom in this Country about Discount – having bought so little Furniture of late years, I am unable to answer the Question – of my own knowledge –

I am Dear Sir
Yr much obliged Sert

W. H. Awdry

W. H. F. Talbot Esqr
