Chippenham <1>
23rd March 1829
Dear Sir –
I do not think it would be desirable to let the Manor Yard – altho’ at present unoccupied – it might be a great convenience on some future occasion to have the use of it & the Rent of it for a Garden would be very inconsiderable – Mr Spenser has a large Yard attached to his House, a part of which might be converted into a Garden if he wishes it –
With regard to Mrs Edwards, <2> I hear that she continues very ill, but she has not given any notice to quit & as she is a Person of Property, there can be no risk to you whatever may be the result of her illness – I believe she has always been assisted in the management of her Farm, by some Friends of her late Husband – who are respectable Farmers in the Neighbourhood & who will probably be her Executors –
I will endeavour to borrow the Act of Parliament relative to the Canal & bring it with me to the Abbey in the course of a few days – at the same time informing you of Hayward’s <3> observations respecting feeding the Meadow with Sheep only, which I will talk with him about in the mean time –
I am Dear Sir Yr Obliged & Obedt Sert
