Chippenham <1>

25h Janry 1831

Dear Sir,

Soon after the rect of your Letter this Morning, I went over to Lacock & found that one Horse Chesnut <sic> had been planted & Fitzsimmons <2> had been removing the earth from the other two, but he desired me to say, that he would now put some Manure round the Roots & let these remain till he heard again from you & He thought they would not hurt for some days –

I have spoken to Moore <3> about grubbing half the 20 Acres of Furze at Nethermore <4> & it will be set about forthwith – you may rely upon it, that it shall be well watched in every way – The Plan at Nash Hill <5> is, for the Men to receive 9s/ pr Week from the Man who has contracted to do the draining – & these being Men employed by the Parish, Moore will pay you 4s/ pr Week for each Man, in part of your expence –

I am sorry to hear that Mrs Trimnell <6> has written in the way you mention – but she has not written to me at all, nor has she recd the Money – I was waiting for her answer, in order to know where to send it – Would you wish me to write to her again as matters now stand? –.

I am Dear Sir
Yr much obliged Sert

W. H. Awdry
