Hond Sir
I beg your pardon for the liberty I have taken, saying that I have returned from a tour in the Pyrenees with a Family from Carlisle which did suggest me on my return from Italy at the end of May; I wish at present to solicit the favour of Mr Talbot to recommend me to his Friends and relations, which I have learnt travel very often The Earl and Countess of Mount Edgcumbe going out about every year on the Continent. I should feel extremely Glad to get in these large branches of noble Families, I am certain to give them every satisfaction, possessing all the qualifications of a superior courier and besides a well educated servant with the best of Conduct and principles acknowledged by all the Families I have served, having twenty six years experience in travelling and in pratical [sic] Knowledge extremely useful in many Circumstances, which renders sometimes valuable assistance procures comfort, renders the journey more agreeable and profitable and is a great economy in every respect to be accompanied by a servant of a superior Knowledge with a firm and a good constant Conduct, I have brought these reflections under Mr Talbot’s Kind consideration and beg him to be recommended in these branches in which I never had the fortune to be Known although well deserving. Trusting that Mr Talbot and all his Family are quite well with my Kind respects
I remain Hond Sir your very Obedient & Humble servant
