My Dear Sir

I think the enclosed extract from part 2 of my Assyrian Glossary, now printing, may perhaps interest you as you have written an article on the subject in Lepsius’s Zeitschrift for last June p.63. My article was in print, before I had seen your paper. You propose to read the title Negus. I had thought of that word, but I never found the sign <cuneiform> with any other value than gab.

<ill. del.> I find that Nigab occurs in inscriptns not connected in any way with Egypt in the sense of Superintendant <sic> or Priest, of a Temple. But this may very well be a different word.

Mr G. Smiths communications to the Zeitschrift on Egypto-Assyrian history appear to be very valuable.

Believe me, Dear Sir yours very truly

H. F. Talbot
