Lacock Abbey Chippenham

My Dear Sir
Can you give me a line to say whether the expedition to Niniveh is to be carried out as proposed? for I hear very little news down here in the country.
Mr Cooper asked me to contribute a paper to the meeting of the Society on the 4th March, which I have done, the subject of it being ‘the religious belief of the Assyrians’ part III but he writes word that it has come to hand too late.
The rules of the Society appear to me to be too stringent, as it wants a week to the meeting.
I hear from him that the Society are going to publish the Synchronous History and the Astronomical tablets, at a considerable cost.
Who has undertaken to edit these documents? We have to thank you for a most curious and important paper on the Cypriote inscriptions. I possess a copy of the work of Professor Röth, die Proklamation des Amasis, it is wonderful that any body should deceive himself to the extent that he did, in supposing he had explained the inscription.
Believe me Dear Sir Yours vy faithfully
H. F. Talbot
