My dear Sir
I should be glad if you would kindly give me some information respecting Mr G. Smith, <1> is he in Mesopotamia at present? I shall probably be in London for a short time in March, and should wish to study some of the Assyrian tablets, would that be possible during Mr Smith’s absence?
I hope you are satisfied with the first volume of Records of the Past <2> – I fear that it is too dry for the Public, would it not be better to allow of the insertion of some popular notes or illustrations?
The Egyptian volume will I think be much more interesting, judging from the programme. Do you think that a second Assyrian volume will be published at Christmas? If so, I could translate a few inscriptions at leisure during the summer –
Believe me
Yours truly
H. F. Talbot
