Saty Aft.

My dear Sir
I had hoped to have called this Aftn & thanked you personally for your very kind & valuable opinion of me – as expressed in your Testimonial, but finding I shall be prevented, I cannot let the day pass by without doing so by note, & at the same time to tell you, that in consequence of the very friendly demonstration called forth towards me here, coupled with one or two disadvantages at Highgate which would diminish the value of the Chaplaincy, I have abandoned – under the advice of Mr Merewether, all further view of seeking the appointment. – I trust, under these circumstances, that you will not deem me one of uncertain mind & purpose – but with many sincere thanks for your kindness towards me on this & other past occasions,
Believe me
Yrs very truly
Arthur Blomfield
