My dear Mr Talbot, I am conscious I ought to have written before this to hail the photo-genic Ladies at Lacock. We feel giddy in general which indisposes me to small wanderings – I expect Mr Reade the author of Italy, <1> a beautiful poem on Saturday, & propose bringing him over if you are at home about one o’clock

& with best regards remain yours truly
WL Bowles

If you hear or see nothing of me, my giddiness you may rely on it has prevented me –
do not write – I will stand all chances

H Fx Talbot Esqr
Lacock Abbey
Chippenham

Notes:

1. John Edmund Reade (1800–1870), Italy: a poem, in six parts: with historical and classical notes (London: Saunders & Otley, 1838).
