My dear Sir,

I have heard this morning from the Bishop’s Secretary to the effect that his Lordship had just received a civil letter (no doubt contrary to his expectations) from M^r Paley, withdrawing the nomination of his son –

The Bishop has offered the Curacy to M^r Arthur Blomfield now Curate of Tidenham Gloucestershire –

He is a nephew of the Bp of London – I rather expect to see him at Lacock to-day or to-morrow –

I will send you word as soon as anything is settled –
