Dear Ld Brougham
The H. of Commons referred the 3 following railways to the same committee
1. Wilts & Somerset2. Bristol & Exeter branches
3. Southampton and Dorchester
No 1 is the railway which affects my property
No 2 Ly G. Fane,s
We think it highly desirable that these bills should be all referred to the same committee of the Lords.
Would you support this?
We wish the Committee to have a full view of the subject, and the merits & also the demerits of the schemes cannot be well understood without reference to the others, which altogethr embrace a vast railway system in the counties of Wilts, Somerset, and Dorset.
The House of Commons evidently, by referring them to the same committee, showed its opinion to be that they ought to be judged of in connexion with each other.
Yours most truly
H. Fox Talbot
The Committee on No 1 is already named, they meet next Tuesday
No 3 has past [sic] Second Reading & is waiting for the Committee to be named
No 2 is a few days behind the others, it is waiting for second reading.
