10 Chester Place Regents Park N W.
July 11 1857
I beg to enclose you a copy proof of a Proposal, which is about to be shortly issued by the Philological Society. May I request the favour of your letting me know at your early convenience, whether you feel disposed to undertake the examination of any one work or another in the manner therein suggested, as the Committee are anxious to shew as large a list of "works undertaken" as possible; the success of the scheme much depending on the amount of cooperation it is enabled to display at first.
I have the honour to be Your very obedient servant
Secretary to the Committee
H. Fox Talbot Esq
[Attached: 4 four page printed Proposal for the Philological Society, (at the Royal Astronomical Society, Somerset House, London, dated July 1857); it is inscribed 'H. Fox Talbot Esq.' and 'Proof']
