H. F. Talbot Esq
Dear Sir /
I have talked your letter over with Mr Elkington <1> and he tells me that he has purchased the Invention of the German for £1600 subject to the Germans obtaining from you (and paying for it out of that Sum) a an Exclusive licence to use your Invention with Galvanic currents – The German Invention includes different matters and in one point it is desirable to have the right of using your Invention the question therefore is for what sum of money you will sell an exclusive license <sic> for you <sic> solvent when combined with the use of Galvanic currents – The German says that your Invention as described is incapable of practical use the Silver or Gold not allowing of burnishing a heat in consequence of their not adhering to to <sic> the other metal and that it is only in deference to my opinion, that he is willing to pay for an Exclusive licence – on these points you will be better able to judge than I am – I shall feel obliged by your informing me whether you will sell an Exclusive licence s and for how much
Yours very truly
