My dear Sir,

I have, I am sorry to say, but very little acquaintance with the subject of Light – but I shall nevertheless be very much gratified in witnessing your experiments, and will wait on you, about a fortnight hence, on any evening you shall appoint – I have no doubt that my friend & Colleague Dr Roget, <1> would also have great pleasure in seeing your experiments – & he is very conversant with the subject –

Ever My dear Sir, faithfully Your’s [sic]
John Geo. Children

Notes:

1. Dr Peter Mark Roget (1779–1869), scientific writer.
