Respected Sir
I beg you will excuse the necessity of my addressing you relative to the Distress the agriculture interest is now Labouring under I appeal to the Distress I now feel as a tenant of yours, as a farmer particularly with reference to the produce of arable land which I hope Sir, you will take into your kind consideration so as to make some reduction in my rent
I will endeavour to lay before you the facts, when I first be came a tenant of yours in 1839 the avarige [sic] price of wheat was 60s/pr Quarter Barley 40s/ and all other things selling at a fair remunerating price at that time I calculated that the rent I am now giving was a fair rent in preparation to to the receipts, in consequence of the great change that has since taken place in the price of agricultural produce, the average price of wheat being now only 39s/pr Quarter Barley 29s/ and every thing in proportion with additional poor rates I am under those circumstances induced to to address you in the manar [sic] above stated hopeing [sic] that my application will not be disregarded
I am Sir Your Abt & Obt Sert
