The Photographic News

Office:–La Belle Sauvage Yard,

Ludgate Hill, E.C.

20 Mornington Road

N.W. London,

October 23 1858.

Dear Sir

You will have seen by this time that the description you were kind enough to send me is given in the “News” of Friday last.

It is exciting the greatest sensation here and every one is anxiously waiting for the specimen promised.

May I beg therefore that you will let me know when you think it will be likely that the plate will be ready, as the publishers are desirous of giving ample time to Mr Brooker to print off the large number of copies which will be required.

In my editorial note I have led the readers to hope that the photoglyph will be given with the next number. I think however that even were the plate now ready it would be hurrying the thing too much to give it quite so early.

You very kindly said that the “Photo: News” might on future occasions be similarly illustrated. Now you have made known the process, I should not like to tax your courtesy in future to prepare the plate for me – but would it at all interfere with your other arrangements to grant me a license to practise the art, it would be of the greatest advantage to be enabled to give such illustrations with my Journal and the process is eminently adapted to illustrate a work of this kind

Believe me

very truly yours

William Crookes

H. F. Talbot Esqre
