I am sorry I was not able to assist you in the Phot^c News Almanac for this year – I have been very much occupied.

I should have been most happy to be a subscriber to your new Chemical Journal if it were not that I feel I should not have time to read it with attention, being only able to devote a small portion of the day to scientific matters – I take a great interest in some branches of chemistry though I cannot boast of any extensive knowledge of the Science – I shall however be very glad to see N^o 1 of the new journal that I may form some idea of its scope and nature.
