I am directed by Mr Secretary Stanley <1> to acknowledge your note of Saturday, for which he begs you to accept his best thanks: & he desires me to add, that he hopes to be able to explain satisfactorily to you tomorrow, the points in the plan of Emancipation, respecting which his statement on Saturday did not convey to you a clear impression.
