Moreton <1>
Tuesday June 21st 1836
My dear Henry
I have heard at last from Ld V– <2> having been expecting a letter from him ever since I have been here – But he has been so busy with the review & the Waterloo dinner, &c, that he has not had time before – He is anxious for me to go there, & Aunt H. <3> is anxious to keep me, but I have resisted her successfully so far as to fix Thursday morning for my departure – Of course I hope to be with you the same evening, unless any extraordinary occurrence should delay us on the road – & to appease you I have been promised a Mesembrianthemum to carry to Laycock Abbey, not a cutting but a plant – I have been very snug with Aunt Harriot, & we are constantly tête-à-tête, (the most agreable <sic> way to have her), as she put off some people who were expected, on Mrs Shirley’s <4> account, who is dying with water on her chest – I will write no more at present, but hope to see you Thursday – Bimbo <5> is quite well again –
