My dear Henry
In the last letter that Horatia <1> had from Elbelle <2> she said that Venus was particularly brillant <sic> this month & appeared in the form of a Crescent & might be seen in the middle of the day without glasses. We did not see Mercury on Saturday night because when it was time to go to bed the sky was still bright with the setting sun. Shall we see him again? I do not write to you in French because you have not answered so many of my letters; I do remember seeing Venus from the window in the garret.
I remain
dear Brother
your affectionate Sister
